I love to talk. If you know me, have met me, been on one of my tours, or, heaven forbid, have received one of my notorious 30 minute long WhatsApp voice messages, you already know that I love to talk. I love talking to people, and I love telling people stories. It’s one of the many reasons why I love being a tour guide. And because I like to talk so much, people are constantly telling me that I should be on a podcast. Well, that time has finally arrived, because this past Friday, I was thrilled to be the guest on an episode of the Travel Experiences Reimagined podcast. And not just any episode. The debut episode of this podcast. I’m still not entirely sure how this happened, but I am honoured to be a part of it.
Travel Experiences Reimagined is a brand new company that tells the stories of hosts and guides throughout the world who bring unique travel experiences to visitors. I was connected with its founder, Mariel Fry, through a mutual friend, and from the moment I heard about her vision for TER, I knew I had found a kindred spirit. For me, travelling is all about the experiences you have along the way. Whether those experiences are planned or not, these are the moments that I will remember long after I’ve returned home and my suitcase has been unpacked. And I love that Mariel has created an entire company around highlighting these experiences and how much they can enrich your time abroad.
I must admit. As much as I like to talk, I was very nervous to be on my first podcast. I even talk in the episode about how nervous I used to get talking in front of people when I first became a tour guide. And let me tell you, those nerves re-surfaced in a big way when it came time to record. But Mariel was so wonderful to talk to, and she didn’t mind me fumbling over my words or my epic brain fart when I forgot the name of a museum I was recommending. Because of course I did. But somehow they managed to smooth all those parts out. I definitely owe the editor of this podcast a drink or something.
But nerves aside, I had a fantastic time on the Travel Experiences Reimagined podcast. I can’t wait to listen to future episodes, because I know that Mariel has been talking to amazing people from all over the world. I have a feeling my list of places to go and things to experience once the world fully opens back up is about to get much, much longer.
You can listen to the Travel Experiences Reimagined podcast here. My specific episode is here. And you can read more about Mariel and the company here. I hope you enjoy listening (instead of reading) to me talk about Paris for a change!
PS: The museum I couldn’t remember is the Musée Marmottan Monet, and it is wonderful!
